Busy Busy Busy

Bishop McMullin (of the presiding bishopric) presided over our stake conference today. He touched many points; far too many to accurately recall here. Let me just recall one that hit me most. He talked about being too busy and how being too busy is an assault on reverence and spirituality. He mentioned that moms are sometime just taxi drivers and there isn't enough time for prayers and meals together as a family. He counseled us to be careful with how we schedule our time.

With so much pressure for parents to see that their childen excel, it will be hard to resist as my one year old grows older. Hopefully I can remember this counsel in the years when I need it!

Jay Nordlinger points out moral decay

Jay Nordlinger makes the following observation that doesn't require any further comment.

The head of the New York Democratic party, Herman Farrell, is about to have a child with his girlfriend. A reporter at the New York Post, Fred Dicker, wrote that Farrell had "fathered an out-of-wedlock 'love child.'" Responded the party chairman, "I think the question of whether I have a child out of wedlock — and even that word: It makes it look like major sin. We're living in the 21st century."

That, friends, encapsulates the thinking of virtually everyone around us — left, right, whatever. That is the modern mindset. Perfectly expressed.
